YUREKA TO RECEIVE LOLLIPOP UPDATE ON MARCH 26! #DTTNEWS

Popular custom mobile software maker Cyanogen on Thursday, 12 March, confirmed that the much-awaited Android Lollipop based CM12 series ROM would be soon released to three smartphones – YU Yureka, OnePlus One and Alcatel Hero 2+.

Cyanogen has announced that it is currently packaging final bootloader firmware and addressing QA/QE results and would soon roll out the CM12  ROM for OnePlus One (global version) in a few weeks' time.

The news is certain to bring cheers to global fans, but Indian 'One' device owners who won't be getting CyanogenMod update need not fret because OnePlus is also in the final stage of development of its in-house built Oxygen series Android Lollipop OS, which is expected to get released later this month.

In December 2014, Cyanogen dealt a severe blow to OnePlus by abruptly ending software-service to flagship smartphone 'One' owing to exclusive alliance with Micromax's YU Televentures in India.

Cyanogen has also announced the new update will be released to YU Yureka in India in a few weeks time. As part of the pilot programme to test any undetected bugs in the new OS, it will soon invite Yureka device owners for soak test. Once ascertained that there are no glitches, CM12 Lollipop OS will be rolled-out en masse to public.

If Micromax's recent tweet is to be believed, YU Yureka is expected to get the new update on 26 March.

Another device which is certain to get to taste the new candy-flavoured CM12 series Lollipop update is the recently unveiled Alcatel Hero 2+. It comes with Cyanogen OS 11 (based on Android v4.4 KitKat) out-of-the-box.

"We are currently working diligently with MediaTek to support 'L'. We plan to OTA (Over-The-Air) it to Cyanogen OS 12 'L' in the May/June timeframe," said Cyanogen team on Google+.

The company also added that they have just received the source code of latest Android 5.1 Lollipop and would look into changes done in the new update and release it as part of a future OTA update later in the year.
