Introduction
Google has launched three android one smartphones. The one which we have is from MICROMAX™. It comes with worthy specs at worthy price but is really worthy?? Let's find out in our full review....
Hardware
MICROMAX Canvas A1 is the best looking android one smartphone, and I personally like the design of this phone. It feels solid in the hand and one hand operation isn't a problem.
PROCESSOR
Android one comes with a quad core processor and 1 GB of ram. Google has optimised this phone so well that you won't feel any lag while operating this phone. Day to day performance or multitasking is very smooth and this phone will not disappoint you in this department.
Coming to Gaming, I tried Asphalt 8 in highest visual setting
and guess what, asphalt 8 ran very smoothly without any issues and what was
more surprising that it didn't heat up much while playing games for several
minutes.
DISPLAY
Canvas A1 comes with a 4.5 inch display with 854X480p resolution display resulting in 218ppi which is not very sharp. Having said that, the display is bright (good sunlight legibility), has got some good viewing angles (means that you can see the display from sharp angles), good color reproduction.
If you compare to moto E, moto e's display is much better and
what more moto e contained Corning gorilla glass which prevents scratches. But
Canvas A1 display supports 10 point multi touch display which is again very
impressive as No other phone in this price features this.
CAMERA
Canvas A1 comes 5mp auto focus primary camera and 2.4MP fixed focus camera on the front for selfies. Back camera performs pretty good when there are good lighting conditions but if there is low light, it results in very grainy and poor images that can't be used. Overall the back camera is just average but still you can't complain because of its price.
The installed camera app is Google camera, you will get
panorama, lens blur and many more features. The phone can record videos at
1080p at 30 fps and video quality is good.
These are some images took from CANVAS A1 back camera.
The front camera takes very good pics In daylight.

SOFTWARE:
It comes loaded with stock Android kitkat 4.4.4 with no
bloatware apps installed (apart from amazon and M!LIVE app). Google has
promised updates upto 2 years which means this phone will definitely get
android Lollipop very soon ( probably till end of jan) which is another feature
that only this phone has in its price bracket.
BATTERY
Why Google why?? You compromised on display resolution, we
didn’t say anything, you compromised on not providing screen protector glass
like Corning gorilla glass, we didn’t say anything but why only 1700 mah
battery. Now we will say. On medium to heavy usage like playing games for small
period of time, watching videos, browsing, some calls, this device is giving me
average battery capacity of around 8-11 hours which is petty a let down because
when compared to moto e, that phone gives better battery backup as compared to
this one.
Call quality is good, call in ear speaker is pretty good, No
networks issues as well. Audio from loudspeaker is pretty loud but gets muffled
whenever you place the phone on a table.
VERDICT
If you can compromise on battery and camera, for its best
performance, the go for it.
Positive:
- Secondary camera is also a fine piece.
- Maybe the slimmest & lightest phone at this price..
- Very fast processing & data transfer.
- etc....
Negative
- The only thing is that the battery charge will not last for long, but at this rate it
should not be taken as a bad thing.
- Back Camera.
