#DTT REVIEWS : UBUNTU 14.04 OS

Ubuntu is a free open soure operating system based on Linux. I have been using this OS for a while now. Here is my unbiased review of Ubuntu.

WHY UBUNTU?

First of all there is a question that why I switched to this OS? And the answer is that I am using a old laptop having a dual core processor with 2 GB ram and Windows 7 on it. And it lags so much that even web browsing was becoming a pain. So I decided to switch to Ubuntu.

WEB BROWSING

There is Firefox browser which comes pre-installed. Personally I am not a big fan or a appreciator of Firefox but in Ubuntu ,it works flawless, web browsing is a fun, YouTube videos plays very smoothly. Overall awesome web browsing experience.

GENERAL PERFORMANCE

Performance, even on an old PC, is very smooth, It is very zippy and Improves overall user experience. Watching videos, playing casual games is good experience.

USER INTERFACE

UI is simple, you have a desktop with a sidebar containing apps there. You can choose and navigate from apps from there. Then you have a top menu where you can access network properties and system settings and also shut down computer from there. Overall a very useful and simple user friendly interface.

GAMING

I don't recommend this os for gaming. Only for some causal games which is available in market store. You can play windows games with a software but it sometimes works and sometimes not.

Others

It also supports java which enables you to create software using netbeans and mysql softwares which is a big plus if you are a developer. You can install VLC media player from the store itself.

Worth it?

Yes, if gaming is not your main priority and you use computer only for work and some entertainment purposes.
